One epic ride.

Eight people. 4,000 kms. Adelaide to Darwin. $150,000+ raised.

4kUp was an epic cycle challenge - a charity ride through the red centre of Australia that raised crucial funds for Indigenous children. The Aspire boys swapped their laptops for wheels and muscle power to average over 135km/day, through some of Australia's most remote communities and toughest cycling conditions. The journey provided myriad challenges, both mental and physical; yet proved to be an extraordinary experience for the riders, joyous and humbling in equal measure. An excerpt from Aspire Managing Director Peter Hurley's recap of Day 8 offers insight:

"One quarter of the journey passed as we finished the day at 1,143kms. Dark morning hours are silent – pedaling, hunching, too cold to talk – we ponder & wonder on the assortment of characters and personalities that we meet, sometimes repeatedly, along the way. Paul for instance, with whom we dined, rose at 4am to say goodbye, then waved us down a couple of hours later to donate $25 to the cause – he slept in his car to save the camping fee for us. Incredible."

In partnership with the Indigenous Marathon Foundation and the Starlight Children's Foundation, the riders raised over $150,000 to create healthier outcomes for the Indigenous kids of remote Australia.  Aspire Strategy is proud to put our weight behind such a great cause. As the ride is fully funded by the cyclists themselves, Aspire has contributed directly to the fundraising as a corporate sponsor. Much more importantly for us, however, two of the riders were Aspire Directors.

We congratulate the riders on this remarkable achievement, and for their commitment to such an important cause. Aspire Strategy is proud of both Peter and Brett for their dedication to the community, and for their resolve to actively make something happen. We look forward to the next opportunity to support the community, and to the next event in which we can indulge our shared passion for outdoor endurance competition.
